As you may already know, the minimum hourly wage is adjusted every 6 months. Starting from July 1, the minimum hourly wage will increase to €13.68 per hour if you are 21 years old or older. That’s a 3.1% rise! This means you should receive at least this hourly rate.
There was a plan for an additional increase of 1.2%, but it didn’t go through. The Senate wasn’t convinced due to the costs for employers and the government. There was also an idea to make banks and large companies pay more taxes to fund this increase, but that’s off the table now.
We’re not sure yet if the new government will decide to raise the minimum wage further. Opinions are divided on this matter. The next scheduled adjustment is on January 1, 2025. We don’t know the exact increase yet, but as soon as we have more information, we’ll let you know immediately.
